What started as a joint apartment hunt quickly turned into a film production.
We met during our first semester at the HFF Munich and thought to ourselves: If we’re going to do this, let’s do it right!
So we founded our own company in 2022.
The name? It came about in a WhatsApp chat - you can find it here!
Today, we’re a team of six with a shared goal: to produce films that reach a wide audience.
Our first feature film, Zweigstelle, sold over 120,000 tickets in german cinemas, won the National Audience Award at the 2025 Munich Film Festival, as well as the Audience Award at the Leipzig Film Art Fair, and was nominated for the Günter Rohrbach Film Prize and the Jupiter Award. In addition, we received 10 nominations for the Neues Deutsches Kino Support Award. We were particularly delighted, however, to be honored with the VGF Emerging Producers Award.
Our film I Understand Your Displeasure (co-produced with ZDF / Das kleine Fernsehspiel) celebrated its world premiere in the Panorama section of the 76th Berlinale, opened in German theaters in June 2026, and won, among other honors, the First Steps Award for Best Feature-Length Film.
WennDann Film stands for curiosity, conviction, and genuine collaboration.
We’re into both: socially and politically engaged stories, and films for bigger audiences with a bit of popcorn appeal – and we always try to combine the two, because we believe that’s how films become relevant.
Because in the end, what matters is who’s behind the camera - and that we do it together.
